    @RonBin79

We need to verify the drive (WD) can actually be seen by Windows and is still drive letter "D". Please do what Bree and Bastet suggest.

Plug in the drive and make sure it's ready. You should see the Safely Eject icon on the task bar at the bottom of your screen.

In the search box, type "this pc". At the top, click on This PC. Verify the WD drive is visible in the display. Verify it is "D" drive. Please post a pic of what you see on the This PC display.

If it is "D", click on it to verify you can access it. If it is not, post back the pic so we can see.

    Thanks.

Yes, Ron, helps a lot. Not real important why or how it got changed, for now. Appears another USB device is assigned to drive "D". You can simply change your Macrium Definition to be "I" instead of "D", leave all else as is, and you should be ok. Just type over the "D" and make it "I". Don't change anything else. Save the change. Try your backup. The "why/how" can come later after you get a backup done.....if it's important.

    This is an example only!

Right click the definition file and click EDIT.

Change the "D" to "I" where I'm pointing. Click FINISH.

Thank you!!! Job done, wonderful. Very much obliged. She who must be obeyed has called for dinner. If you have any further info as to how and why this should hae happened, please let me know, I will come back on light right after I have eaten and do the dishes later.
    Cheers.

Glad that fixed it for you. Can't imagine who has called you for dinner!

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is another USB device...a Thumb Drive, an External Drive (possibly your WD), or other was plugged in and UN-plugged without using the Safely Eject option, leaving a phantom device occupying that drive letter. Windows then assigned a new letter to the WD automatically. There is a way to further investigate and probably right all that, but it would involve messing around in Device Manager and deleting things. Not for the faint of heart!

Can anyone help with info about WD El;ements and Marium

Thanks for that but it hasn't finished yet! See attached screen shot? My Broadband and telephone system gave up the ghost on 23 Jan and whilst th phone is ok the Broadband WiFi isn't it.s still out of order. My provider sent me a Mini Hub which I plugged into the comp by USB plug which could well be the cause of all this trouble. Now This has turned up and heavens knows what this is all about?

    Cheers,

    Ron

Then that may well explain the other "hidden" devices I see in your screenshot, and why the WD is now Drive "I". Translation...... Letter got swapped, ignore it, not an issue long as backup finishes.

You're OK, far as I can see. Post something back when it finishes. Seems I remember your backup takes about 6 months, right? joking..........

    Dick.....
