Yeah, but Macrium has problems as demonstrated in the 47 pages that follow the tutorial.

You are in error as demonstrated here https://kb.macrium.com/knowledgebasearticle50210.aspx:

So like all software of this type, decisions must be made and protocol followed.
That only applies when trying to multiboot.

Vast majority of users simoly create a boot drive for a single option ie to boot into Macrium Reflect Free with no other option eg booting into windows installer.

Thus if you create a fat32 rescue drive it works on uefi or legacy bios. If you create an NTFS boot drive, it is nott uuniversal.

    No point in discussing further.

I only need it for my personal use so universal as no priority, my PC is UEFI, GPT and NTFS works just fine for an image.

    No point in discussing further.[/QUOTE]
I appreciate that, I have had this discussion before in this forum and Macrium does not meet my needs nor is its' UI friendly.

I am not talking about where you store the image - of course that can be on any drive. I am talking about the Rescue BOOT Drive!

    I formatted USB to NTFS.
I used AOMEI to create bootable media.
I used AOMEI to backup drive.
AOMEI boots and restores from the NTFS format to a UEFI/GPT disk.

One thing that I do to my PCs is to check BIOS to be sure they can boot from "Legacy" which eliminates any issues from the type of format of the backup on Rescue BOOT Drive.
