Is there a "Check your backup" notice error

Is there a "Check your backup" notice error

I ran a System Image backup today using an external hard drive for storage but soon after commencement the backup failed. On the "Backup and Restore" page a notice in red is displayed saying "Check your backup". The error code is 0x8078014B - "Failure creating a Directory on the backup storage location".
I have run the backup twice since and both times it showed "Backup completed successfully". In spite of this the "backup and restore" page is still displaying the "Check your backup" message with the error code etc.
If the "Backup completed successfully" messages are correct, could someone kindly explain why the "Check your Backup" warning with the same related error code is still displayed?

While not a fix to your problem I believe this product is being removed and lots have reported reliability issue.

Might I suggest you give Macrium Reflect a try. There are other products you can also use. Macrium is free, reliable and used by members.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

The tutorial is a little out of date but will get you through. Don't forget to create and test Boot media.

Thanks C.K. I looked through the Macrium Reflect tutorial. It appeared to be rather complicated to me, though I realise one gets more options than with the Windows 10 System Image program. I will wait to see if someone comes up with a solution to the present problem and then maybe try Macrium.

You need to move regardless, the Windows product is being shelved.

It may look complicated but really isn't, just a lot of detail.

On the Windows one have you deleted your backup definition, what to backup and when and started fresh?

    Gordon,

MS is only fixing security problems with their system image facility.
    - They are not fixing functional problems.
    - So it is perfectly possible that your current problem is unfixable.
    - Even if you fix the current problem, there is no telling whether or not you would be able to restore that system image successfully in the future.

You might find a solution to your current problem through these lists
    0x8078014B site:answers.microsoft.com
    0x8078014B site:social.technet.microsoft.com
but, judging by the ones I read through, you shouldn't hold your breath while trying.

Most commentators here use & recommend Macrium reflect [free edition]. Personally, I use Acronis True Image and have no complaints.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Hi,
Basically the Windows 10 System Image never did work very well, it did work OK with Win 8.1, and they are not going to fix it but remove it so long term there is no point in pursuing that.
I had a session directly with MS about this quoting error messages and the like and showing them what I was doing. It got nowhere, complete waste of time.

Originally used Win 10/8.1 System Image but eventually had to change to Macrium. I used to have those images stored but the possibility they would actually work was remote so I deleted mine and now keep several recent Macrium Images instead.

Macrium is a lot more complicated, however a simple System Image is relatively easy, and the free version does this.

Creating Boot media is a bit of a nightmare I have 4 different ones using 2 different PE versions and a "special", both DVDs and USB key drives.

But you can just create a dvd or usb with boot media through a couple of clicks for a simple boot.
