I already made a backup to an external drive.. but my main boot drive is not partitioned into "Operating system" partition and "User data" partition. I've heard of some use that strategy.
I agree that the way I am doing it now is not optimal.
I want quick access to data. What if I copy all this stuff to an external USB based drive and then it fails?
I should probably split the C:\ disk into several partitions, one for Win10 OS stuff and the user stuff on another part.
I've never lost user data. I always run into issues with the operating system however. This time I wiped the EFI partition. Several years ago I lost the boot disk that held keys for a decryption program that another disk was encrypted with. Data is simple, the operating system is more complicated.
