Note 3: By accident I discovered that my USB- stick at some point was listed as "disconnected" in the "more backup options"- window. I don't know how and why, since I didn't remove the USB- memory. Maybe this has something to do with my issues with not getting any automatic backups done (since the very first backup did apparently work fine) ?
With the usb connected it will appear on Device Manager as a 'USB Mass Storage Device' under Universal Serial Bus controllers. On the Power Management tab of its Properties, try tuning off 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.

Fantastic, found and turned off!! Didn't even know this option existed... ;-)

Does this (your path- description) disable the function (to turn off device to save power) for only this particular USB- device, or does it disable the function for every further inserted USB- devices in the computer?

(At the top in the Device Manager the USB is listed as "Samsung Memory Fit...", but in its properties- window the box "Allow computer to turn off device" was not present)

I´ll see what happens with the auto backup now after restart, maybe the problem was the "turn off to save power"- feature, and not the controlled folder access in the first place..?

    Thanx!

For this particular device, each usb will have its own 'USB Mass Storage Device' listing in Device Manager.

YES!!! Auto backup using File History is now working as intended! So probably my initial problems had to do with the "allow computer to turn off device"- setting. Much work for nothing, but much things learned along the way...
