Macrium Reflect Free not deleting old backup images.

    Hi,
I have Macrium's retention policy set to delete images older than 7 weeks, but it is not deleting them. I have at least two images it should purge before starting a new backup. It says '2 sets found', then 'nothing to delete' - even though the two oldest images were made on 7th Oct 2018.

I suppose I could manually delete the older images, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about why Macrium is not doing it.
    Cheers,
    Eddie.

You have two backup sets, 'My 1st Backup' and 'My Backup'. In your screenshot you are running 'My 1st Backup'. The retention rules are only for this backup set. Are the two older images in the other backup set?

I would never setup Macrium that way, YOU should be the only one deleting an older image, when YOU are confident you don`t need it anymore.

    Just my humble opinion

You may well be right, though I had already deleted them before you replied. I was under the impression that, since they were all saved to the same folder, they would be deleted automatically. Seems I was wrong.

FWIW, I work the same way as AddRAM. I don't use retention rules, only delete images I'm sure I don't need.

I also don't use retention rules and manage backups "by hand," FWIW.
