Please state your disk imaging/backup tool preference

    The thinking behind screen saver is that these days few if any have CRT monitors that suffer from burn-in. For the other uses of screen saver MS say you should use the Lock Screen.

    The list for 1709 was the big one, but a few more have been added with 1803 then 1809 - HomeGroup removed, Snipping Tool deprecated, etc.

    I have Macrium Free, Acronis, and the WD My Cloud software. Also the Windows 10 resident software.

    Like some others I'm looking for a simple, direct solution to backing up my files in case of a HDD failure and a tool to retrieve lost or accidentally deleted files. I've found all of my downloads to be comprehensive but somewhat complex for my simple needs. I recently bought a Seagate HDD that comes with free backup and file restore utilities. It seems to be simple and straightforward.

    I'm tempted to use the Seagate software for my needs and to keep the more in-depth software for the limited or non-existent need to create/expand partitions and other functions.I know that the Cloud offers some safe alternatives, but I want to avoid monthly charges that already are nickle-and-dime me to death.

    What risks do I accept by using the Seagate Toolkit software to backup/restore and retrieve lost files??

    Macrium Reflect Home edition, for system imaging and Windows native RoboCopy command for daily (or more often) data backup.

    Macrium Reflect Paid. On Desktop and Laptop. Free version is more than ample for most users, but I use the paid version because I'm one the wackos that does incrementals instead of using the hideous Windows Restore Points. Takes about 30 seconds to do an Incremental, and I fire one off before I'm going to do something that may sicken my machine. Worse case, back up exactly as before in about 3-4 minutes.

    Do daily/weekly/monthly full backups, all to different external drives. Verified and disconnected, safely tucked away.

    Paid, also because they deserve it, for their exceptional support and immediate response in bug fixing.

    And an out of scope comment:

    Where is the plane....I know it's Christmas time, but I want a Christmas airplane. Give us back the tomcat!!!!

    Sorry, I have no experience using it. OO DiskImage 14: Backup Software for Windows

    I do use their O&O Shutup, though, to keep MS at bay best I can!

    I was a long time Acronis user, but since I tested Macrium Reflect, there was no turning back!

Imaging a disk with macrium
in Backup and Restore

I have tried several times to make an image of a windows 7 disk.. Using macrium reflect and it just won't do it. It says can't make an image of this disk.. no reason given. On the same computer with another disk that has windows 10, it works...
