Let me answer my own question.

This doesn't seem to be a perpetual license. If you want "free" upgrades to upcoming major versions, it looks like you need to be on some sort of a subscription license.

The current version 7 was first released over 2 years ago. I just looked around the Macrium support site and saw some indication that, as of late 2018, Macrium intended to release version 8 within 12 months---before the end of 2019. I have no idea if their plans have changed.

I may buy the current version 7 at 50% off regardless and worry about version 8 later if ever.

So did I and I saw the same notice.

I know what "perpetual" means in standard English, but Macrium may (or may not) be from the Humpty Dumpty School Of Lexicography.

Turns out the paid version is of minimal use to me because the "file and folder" backup function is quite convoluted when compared to competing applications. Yeah, it "works", but that's about all I can say for it.

Maybe I can get some use out of Redeploy next time I upgrade.

I very rarely restore, so Rapid Delta Restore would mean nearly nothing to me.

And maybe it really is a perpetual license by the non-Humpty Dumpty definition. Time will tell.
