    Macrium defect - can't delete a backup

    Hi there

I'm trying to move / copy some macrium backup files to different HDD's.

Windows 1803 (current "Normal" windows build with latest Macrium update gives me following error

    Macrium defect - can't delete a backup-mac.png

Easy enough to delete and move using Linux live distro or KYHI disk - but this error shouldn't occur -- nothing wrong in wanting to move / re-arrange backup files !!!!

First time I've ever had this error.

    Cheers

Cannot delete files - Microsoft Community

looks relevant...if you have Macrium Guardian.. otherwise

Error 0x80070510 Unable to move media files due to storage policy.

    - which is fine if you have Pro up - or you could enable the group policy editor in Home with a little research

Have you got Macrium Image Guardian enabled?

    Hi there

    No -- not enabled.

I switched the HDD´s to my skippy build and it´s working fine
so it only happened on the 1803 (standard) build.

One thing that can give inappropriate/confusing error messages when a file cannot be found/moved/deleted is when the folder concerned is being protected by Defender's Controlled Folder Access. It may be that on the 1803 machine concerned that drive/folder is included in the list of folders under Ransomware Protection.

    Hi there

I changed nothing on the 1803 system apart from updating to latest version of Macrium and standard Windows updates -- If Windows updates interfere with how you operate your system and change settings without warning you then that's a BAD BAD idea.

I'm in favour of decent security but if there are any changes in policy or the way it's going to work after update then I think the user should be warned and given the option of either skipping the update or being able to re-set machine to how it was working before. !!!

Anyway I've got round the problem by using the skippy build.

    Cheers
