    Restore System using restore point

    Hello,
Had to use a recent restore point. Started the restore, made a list what will be affected, and it started. After waiting about 25 minutes I got an error notice that restore was not succesful because of anti virus (?). The only antivirus on my system is windows defender, tried to stop it in task manager by selecting "end task" and acess was denied.
Finally had to use the macrium backup.
    So:
    1. Whats the use of restore points if cannot use them ?
    2. How to stop the defender so I can use the restore point ?
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Thanks for the answer.
    1. As said, the only antivirus I have is the windows defender, keeping it always updated.
    2. There was no any alert when scanning the computer.(Twice a day)
    3. Location of the restore point to scan it ?
    4. How do I stop temporarily the windows defender, as I wrote earlier I was denied.
Note: On my previous old pc I had AVG installed, there I could temporarily to stop it.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Having problems with system restore is not uncommon.
It's nice to have this tool when it works.
These are some common system restore problems:

If there are computer problems the computer logs can be troubleshooted.

    Hi Motim:

Have you tried only disabling realtime protection in Windows Defender from within Windows Defender Security Center--> Virus and Threat Protection Settings-->Realtime Protection.

I was able to toggle that to: OFF

Do you have Malwarebytes installed? If so disable its self-protection module. That's what gave me SR error messages last month. System Restore went through when I disabled that and right clicked Malwarebytes to -->Quit Malwarebytes

You can try starting System Restore from Safe Mode or Advanced startup options (via SHIFT + left click Restart e.g. and navigating thru prompts), but restoring is, if you've read the quite frequent comments, often likely to fail, unfortunately.

Researching the error number may help you.
