Windows 10 Pro restore points after windows updates

In windows 7, restore points were automatically created when I installed programs or windows updates occurred. On 9/13/18, the following my computer received the following update - September 11, 2018—KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285). There is no corresponding Restore date for this update when I check my restore points. The only restore point is one I created on 9/4/18. I also downloaded a program today called Edgemanage and again no restore point was created. Is there a reason why none were created? This is a brand new computer I just purchased and updated the windows 10 provided to windows 10 Pro about 2 weeks ago. The tech manager where I purchased the computer scared me into buying a discounted MacAfee subscription and I also have a Malwarebytes Premium and CCleaner programs loaded. Could these be causing the problem if there is one.

The problem is with The restore points, they are not reliable and never were. I just use Macrium Reflect to backup mu system after every major install and at least 3 times a weak.

Thanks so much for the feedback. However, I would really like to know:
    1. is Windows 10 Pro supposed to automatically create a restore point in the situations I described
    2. if so, is there a reason that it is not creating them and
    3. how might I fix it to do it automatically

    AFAIK ...
    1. Win10 doesn't create restore points on updates ... at least I don't remember seeing any getting created.
    2. It's up to the 3rd party program/programmer as to whether or not a restore is created.
    3. If I'm correct on 1 & 2 .. there is nothing to fix, but I reserve the right to be wrong :)

I've seen restore points being set after updates since I keep pruning them in CCleaner. I didn't see a restore point for last week's update for some reason.

You can have restore points created on a schedule.

Automatically Create System Restore Point at Startup in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

Note that System Restore is disabled after any upgrade (feature update).

As said above, restoring is unreliable- sometimes even from Safe Mode.

Some have suggested Rollback RX (the free version seems adequate).

And as said above, do use disk imaging routinely. That helps even if your disk fails and you need a new one. System Restore can't then.

Considering uninstallation and cleaning up: programs such as Revo Uninstaller and Geek Uninstaller (free) do a scan after the normal uninstaller is run; Pro of the first can monitor installs.

Yea, I stand corrected ... I have System Restore turned off so can't verify if a restore point was actually created/shows in System Restore, but after today's CU I checked the cbs.log and there was an attempt to create a restore point. If the OP doesn't see a restore point created after today's CU, then maybe there is a bug/issue with their PC.

Note: Since it's up to MS if an update creates a restore point, it makes it hard to know if one should have been created or not.

Sorry, meant to mark the issue as solved. I inadvertently hit the unsolved button by mistake after I had prepared another quick post which was wiped out. Somehow the issue resolved itself and I am now getting restore points. However I have taken everyone's advice and downloaded the free system back-up software.
