What back up app other than Free File Sync

    Hi all

I currently use Free File Sync to back up my music library to a 2nd laptop and also. NAS as I mainly use the laptop for djing.

I wanted to ask your opinion on what I should use and whether using Free File Sync is an archaic way of doing things.

Thing to bear in mind is that I probably back this up about once a month.
FFS recognizes when I have edited tracks (added cue points, titles etc) and treats these as additions when I perform a mirror back up

    TIA Bart

Use something like FileBackupEX. Use it to stage to a Synology (the lower cost single or two disk version) then have the first Synology (which is on your LAN) backup to a second remote Synology via the included Hyper Backup app. Now you have local and off-site backup.

Built in robocopy is the best you can get a free GUI for it

What could be archaic about it? File by file backup programs all work pretty much the same way and have similar features. The interface differs, but they lead to the same result. It's pretty much just personal preference and understanding the interface--which can be a challenge.

I used it for several years and now use SyncBackFree. Before that I used Second Copy and I've used 2 or 3 others over the last 20 years. Second Copy has the best interface I've seen, but it isn't free. Last I checked it was $30 with a 30 day free trial.

I gave up on FreeFileSync mostly due to its interface, which I thought was unnecessarily complex. But it worked OK.

I've been using SyncBackFree for 2 or 3 years. No issues so far. I run it once or twice a day to back up about 80,000 files. Takes about 3 minutes. I also "mirror", so the target drive ends up being a replica of the source drive.
