Cloning 250 ssd to 500 ssd on desktop

    As the title say's
Is there anything I should look out for, any problems that might rear their ugly heads.

My windows 10 runs fine, I don't want to upset the apple cart so to speak.

No, there should be no problems. The ancillary benefit is that you're cloning to the same type of drive and you're doing it correctly by going from a smaller to larger capacity so that you don't have to worry about shrinking a volume.

It gets tricky when you have to shrink volumes to fit on a smaller capacity drive and sometimes the cloning software doesn't support the option.

You might have more success with imaging and restoring rather than cloning. Either can work. If one fails or frustrates, try the other.

I'm about to do the exact same thing.

Since only half the 500 ssd volume will be written to with the other half left unallocated, I will be expanding the new drive's volume after the clone so that it becomes a single 500 ssd with no partitions.

I will also be putting my 250 ssd on the shelf as a backup just in case anything should go awry with the clone or I get hit with a virus or ransom ware in the future. If that happened I could just pop the 250 it back in and/or reclone.

I'm using Samsung Data Migration software and have Samsung SSDs. It has always worked flawlessly in the past with 250 to 250 ssd clones.
