If 1803 works and you do not buy a decent capacity drive, there is very little point in wasting valuable space on a limited drive keeping a backup of 1709.

Hell, you can buy a second usb 64GB drive for very little cost anyway.

Guys, I think this thread has been done to death.

    @ImLost
If I understand it correctly you have a system image backup for 1709 & 1803. Congratulations.
--- In November 1809 is coming out.
--- One of the values of creating system image backups is to keep up with the times at that point in time.
--- Think of it this way: home insurance, automobile insurance, life insurance, whatever insurance has to be adjusted according to the times.
--- The same applies to computers: if you don’t understand why, please accept the excellent recommendations that have been posted.
--- We don’t have control of how Microsoft “manages” what our computer needs are, but what we can control is how we take charge of what & how we need to do to keep our “investment” computers are used properly and are worth how much the cost of the computer rewards us with being kept-up-to-date, well maintained and secure.
--- This Win10 forum provides the best support any user can have access to: sometimes decisions need to be made by the user on which opinion & solution applies in their case but like everything else in our lives, we make decisions based on what applies to us.

Your questions about the space available on your 64GB flash drive are valid: however, there have been many recommendations for usIng an external HDD.
--- In post #119 you mention “No external drive..,.,.the end.” But everyone is pouring their hearts out on what’s best for you.
--- Think of it this way: you have $2000 (64GB flash drive for your computer) in the bank: it costs $1800 month (eventually 60GB of usage on your 64GB flash drive) just for normal living: you are just barely managing but are getting by.
--- All of a sudden, taxes go up, standard of living goes up etc.: but you still have only $2000 in the bank: now you are living on fumes.

You’ll probably turn those explanations apart as they are pretty general, but know this: using an external HDD will be well worth the price.
--- All of us want to see the best solutions for you.
--- I have a 1TB external HDD that cost me about $65 from the Vista days and it still does its job w/o having to maneuver space & its performance is as reliable as expected.

You have a brand-new computer: please keep it safe, secure, well-maintained and ready for an up-to-date recovery if it’s ever needed.

………….but Ignatzatsonic says just delete the images I don't want like any other file (I couldn't get quotes by 2 different people to go into here....)

settings/system/storage says image is over 32gb, but then after doing image, the usb says it was about 20gb.....so can't image go on a 32gb usb stick??

If this second image (1803) goes on same 64gb stick, do I just stick it in, and do the option 3 again?
Lost, if you want to delete them manually, please feel free to do so. I was merely stating there is no NEED to do it manually. If Ignatzatsonic advises you to manually open up your Thumb Drive and determine which is the correct one to delete, please do so.......... Just pick the right one..........

There is not much left to say on this subject..............

Will do image of current 1803. Do I just put the usb that has the 1709 on it back in, then do option 3 again? That is all. Thanks

That's what I do. And then just follow the steps you did originally. Reflect has an option that by default (I think) will delete the oldest image if there's not enough room on the stick.

Clayton, you are 100% correct! It's been mentioned to the OP several times, latest last evening by me. But doesn't hurt to keep repeating the basics.

Macrium will automatically delete the oldest to make room based on your retention schedule in the definition file, or when it hits < 5GB space left. No need to manually delete anything. Also safer not to try.

All set, did the 1803, did 'verify', seems okay, 21gb of space left. After all this, Im done for a long time, hope it's never needed. Maybe I'll try it again when new versions come out, but not gonna go to all the trouble again every coupla weeks for 'patches'. Thanks

Great, glad you have it done.

Now you have to save Both USB's in a very safe place for future use.
Maybe put them both in a envelope with a note saying which one is the Rescue.

Or mark each one with a permanent marker pen.

    Well done!

Yes, I'd not bother with the patches as you are limited in how many images you can store on that usb. Your 1803 image will quickly download the latest patch if you ever need to restore it, and the 1709 image is useful to keep as an 'as it came out of the box' fall-back.

I would make a new image only when you get a major upgrade to the next version of Windows, that happens every 6 months. You may be able to squeeze one more image on that usb, if not you could always buy a second one.
