I wondered what about using the PC while backing up? Will it affect a program being run and used? I always clear my cache and have nothing open when doing an image backup.

It should be fine once it creates a snapshot of the HD as long as you are not downloading or updating... I usually clear my cache, and run CCleaner before backing up.
You could run backups when you retire for the night, most backup sofware (Advanced Options) will actually shut off your PC when completed.

I do it all the time with MR. The only thing I am careful not to do is delete stuff on C drive just in case but that is more a precaution than a necessity.

Ask them? Remember when you voted and you were warned the vote was public and that other could see how you voted? Well...

I trust it 100% if I didn't, I would not have bought it 3 years ago. It has never failed me.

I have had a couple of "failures" on creating the backup, requiring me to do a chkdsk /r on C drive, but upon doing it, backups went fine. One could argue that is not actually a failure but a controlled error stop as it detected a condition that needed to be rectified to ensure a reliable backup, and indeed other software may have continued leading to a dodgy backup.

Never had a restore failure for a long time but I stress I always keep up to date to ensure I never try and recover a later backup with an earlier version of MR.

Like you, I end up buying it and it is well worth the money.

I did have one failure of sorts when I used the paid version (V6 at the time) whereby I had done a lot of changes but had a registry based and a restore did not sort things as I expected. I scratched my head on that and then did a full restore rather than a rapid delta restore and things were fine.

Never had a similar issue since with V7.

Because you have voted. To see the voters I had to 'Unvote' (don't worry, I voted again after having a look).

If you ask me, Macrium Reflect should be obligatory, first application installed after installing Windows 10. Users often think it as just another backup application but in fact it is much more, giving more than any other free imaging solution....
