    restore points

I keep regular images with Macrium Reflect, free. I create one manually with each new cumulative update.
I also make a restore point each week.
Due to their poor reliability record, would you say I am wasting my time with these restore points and to just rely upon Macrium?
Secondly, if I may, I hear about Aomei. Is that the same as Macrium or is it similar to system restore & advisable to use with Macrium?

I would say yes you are. Restore points are not reliable at all. Also you may have not noticed, but while having System Restore enabled, every time you make an image with Macrium..... System Restore will auto make a new point and take up even more space. I noticed this after my clean install when System Restore was enabled by default.

Personally I would make sure my Macrium boot media works properly and disable System Restore completely.

I have not used Aoemi. Will leave that for others to comment on.

    Hope this helps.

You are welcome. Aoemi is like Macrium as it a backup and restore. It is nothing like System Restore.

I do know that much. I have seen others say it is easier for users than Macrium to understand. If you are happy with Macrium, I would just use it. Nothing wrong with trying out Aoemi to see what you like better.

You could try RollBack Rx Home.

I gave up on System Restore when it failed after I wanted to remove that boated Visual Studio Community software. After which I looked at Macrium and never looked back.

Also disabling system restore as all it does is waste space creating restore points.

I think Aomei is an underrated program. I have used it for years, its interface is very user friendly, never had a problem with it. I have two USB external drives for imaging. One runs Aomei backups, second runs Macrium
