    So am I.

    1. Ask Nick what macrium doesn't include in an image.

    2. You also can't define your own image exclusions with macrium - or with most of the others. Only a few products allow that.
In basic terms, it is the hibernation and pagefiles are not backed up. These are rebuilt by the restored OS on first reboot.

You can exclude items but not simple.

Thanks Martin, I did not know that the Hibernation and Pagefiles were not included in the image.
So my apologies to the OP @cytherian for the answer!

Yes, I know about the unsupported registry method.

Don't teach your grandmother how to suck eggs.

That is a lovely expression. There are some great colloquialisms.

It probably also excludes system volume information. Ask Nick for a complete list.

No, that is included in a Macrium image. Amongst other things, that's where your system restore points are stored.

Not 100% positive, but I don't believe it saves any Search Indexing Data. Every time I've restored an image, first thing it churns on is rebuilding the search indices.

What is your evidence that it is included?

In every Macrium image I have ever made.

Just mount one and use TreeSize Free to look inside the System Volume Information folder...

I don't see any evidence the diff area has been included in the image. Does your image have zero byte placeholders for any other files?

    Why the rude response?

Very few people know about the registry method. How the hell am I supposed to know you are a "grandmother"!
