Has One Drive matured enough to be used as an Instant Backup for Docs.

I would like to be able to save every document to "Both" Local -and - OneDrive at the nearly the same time. In the event i am not connected to the internet, I would be OK with waiting for the sync. I recently ran across several How To's showing various options but they still sounded more like a "Sync when OneDrive was ready" and those little green checkmarks don't always appear next to every document in a timely manner.

I have never been able to put my faith in the 'cloud' as every time i do, I end up losing something important. I gave up trying a couple years back but thought maybe OneDrive had matured enough to be reliable now

I have seen methods of setting what to Sync and where and how to make OneDrive my default Save location with the Local copy being synced down from the Cloud. I would prefer clicking "Save" to go to local My Documents AND to Onedrive at nearly the same time if it can be done.

I got tired of trying every new tutorial on the web to see if i could make this happen. This is something i want only with My Documents and I thought maybe someone had already been able to get something like this to work. I would appreciate it if anyone could pass along their ideas on how to best accomplish this. Whatever works reliably and with the least time delay possible.

AH, so. Access denied. Unfortunately, the company will not allow the use of Google Drive nor anything other than Business OneDrive. And the times i tested it even with business one drive, if i wanted to pull the file from OneDrive it took several seconds to load. a noticeable delay. It does work, of course, just a nuisance. A for size, we each have some huge amount of storage in Business that no one currently uses any of. It seems like it was upgraded to 1TB per User a while back. Probably because they have plenty to waste as no one uses it.
Seriously, this is what myt own folder up there says : "1021.95 GB free of 1024.00 GB"

? I get 15GB free storage on Onedrive as standard and an extra free 15GB for having a Windows phone (big mistake!).

Do you have space on your PC to keep a local copy? That would avoid having to download files when you want to open them. Basically right click the folder you want instant access to and select "Always keep on this device"

The safest way is to backup to a local device and then have it off line. Backup to the cloud can work - although a lot of people have slow upload speeds even if download is fast. However if you lose Internet connection then you can't get to your backup if you need it.

Given the cheap price and low power consumption of even things like 4TB passport usb3 drives I wonder why people always seem to like the idea of cloud backup. Servers also are much more likely to get hacked (or even legitimately "Data mined") so I pass on this stuff. I keep my backups on external devices and ensure I have more than 1 copy.

These days also there's no reason why you can't copy stuff to a phone -- modern smart phones usually have provision for extra storage cards (micro sd) which now have reliable capacities of up to 256 GB.

128 GB one with adapter (so you can use the card in a standard computer too) costs around 35 EUR inc tax. Without adapter cheaper still.

do you know if there is anyway to backup to the free size via a computer? or it has to do be a phone?
