    1 Button Back-up. Really?


    I finally decided to try and back-up my desktop. Everyone here keeps talking about Macrium, so I just downloaded ver. 7 Home and a 422 PAGE manual. Really? This is easy?

    So I started reading the manual. It says Windows PE has to be downloaded when you start Macrium. Then something about backing up the whole hard drive with all the partitions, not just an Image. So I'm already lost. Give me a few days to figure this out. I may be crying for help soon.

    P.S. I have a 230Gig hard drive in my desktop and a 500 Gig external USB drive. Should I partition this USB drive in half or use all of it?

    I would just use this Tutorial as it is really good for new users of Macrium Reflect:

    Personally I would leave the drive as it is. I don't like having extra drive letters.

    O.K. Help! So under Backup Tools I have...

    Image selected drives on this computer

    Create an image of the partitions required to backup and restore Windows.

    Clicking on either one of them takes me to my CD/DVD drives for the destination. Nothing else. My USB drive is not showing. However, if I click on "Clone this disk..." I have the USB drive showing. So right now, for better or worse, I'm cloning the hard drive.

    Is this right?

    And from that Tutorial, I see nothing regarding creating Rescue Media.

    No, you do not want to clone the drive. Have you given the USB drive a drive letter or is it still brand new? You will need to quick format and give it a drive letter so it can be seen in Windows.

    You can do this in Disk Management.

    When I plug it in, its identified as "H".

    And I'm at 58% with the cloning right now. I might as well let it finish then re-format the drive. With my luck, I'll screw something up if I cancel it

    When you click on "Create an image of the partitions required to backup and restore Windows"

    Click on the 3 dots to the right and it should show the drive there in the list with your other drives.

    Folder
    CD/DVD burner

    Only options showing. No three dots.

    On mine where it says Folder, to the right there are 3 dots.

    It is a bit complicated.

    I recommend Aomei backupper as being the simplest imaging program to use .

    Under the Backup drop down, It shows Disk Write Performance. H is showing. Testing it now.

the go back button on edge doesn't seem to have the ability to, when you click and hold on it, see many of the previous pages, so you can go back more than one page per click. is that possible? thanks.
