The conclusion is one need to shut down system immediately after cloning and then remove source drive before booting else both boots will collide breaking one with minor chances of restoration without redoing all or part of the recloning procedure .

Also @SIW2suggested a useful tool of his own make that would allow for latter attaching both drives and make them dual boot found in posts down .

I am trying to clone a laptop SSHD drive as an upgrade , New cloned drive boots into black screen and a loading pointer and it goes like that forever , system is UEFI and i just managed to clone the 1 TB drive into the 2 TB drive (Both Seagate FireCuda) using seagate's trusty disk wizard over night , here is a comparison of final layout

so i see it cloned the hidden partitions not in same order , the active partition on clone has not Boot sign and parition serials were not cloned too , would that be normal , if so , what am i missing ?

Hi, had you literally cloned the disk, it would have been an exact copy. Further you are lacking the Active & Boot and System status.

You could try cloning the disk by another means, or if you were very very lucky, using Macrium Reflect's Fix Boot utility on its bootable disk might help you.

I have managed to re-clone same drive over night once more using seagate disk wizard but following the instructions from another program called easeus , i had to shut down immediately after the cloning and remove source drive before loading windows .

ok the thing is the 3 hidden partitions are still sorted differently and drive serials are not the same but windows did boot successfully .

now i am wondering , is it wrong now to combine both drives in same laptop after cloning ? will one have to break ? or this instruction is just for first time boot ?

Don't put two bootable Win 10 drives in the same machine. Safest thing once you're happy with the clone is
a. Start using disk imaging routinely as we advocate again and again (e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) ) to protect your PC and your data
b. format the old drive.

Both disks attached Easy to fix , either by running startup repair, or ( preferably ) using bcdboot command.

You will also need to fix the drive letter. Too difficult to explain how to do that, so I made a little program
nt6repair.zip

Just select the drive letter in the dropdown , then click FIX.

easy to fix as in i let them clash for one time then repair them as a once and for all mean ? or every time i'll attach them they will clash ?

my question now is how can i safely keep both drives in system ?

Exactly why do you want two copies of everything in your PC at the same time?

Only needs fixing once. Will be fine after that.

Attach the other disk.
Boot into the current working clone.
Open the nt6repair program.
Select the drive letter of the windows partition on the other disk.
Click Fix.

To add the operating system on the other disk to the current boot menu open an elevated cmd and type:
bcdboot ?:\windows
( replace the ? with the windows partition letter on the other disk.)

To add the operating system on the current disk to the other boot menu open an elevated cmd and type:
bcdboot c:\windows /s Z:
(Replace Z with the active/efi system partition letter on the other disk)

The thought of trying to shift one version back to windows build 1703 because it ran like a rocket for both apps and games on this laptop (seriously video encoding ran twice as fast on that build , and frame rates were 150% of current and yes i have tried using same drivers or latest with no success) while advancing to the latest builds with the others

grateful for the useful tool , i'll try it by night . and why arent you hosting it somewhere like source forge explaining what's it about or making a youtube about it , explaining the troubles of cloning that i found minimal references on how to fix its errors ?
