Windows 10 1803 Not Creating Restore Point before Windows Update(s)

Hi. I've noticed that my Windows 10 PC doesn't always create a restore point before Windows Updates. It will create Scheduled Checkpoints weekly and manually as well as after uninstalling or installing some programs.. So, other than this one issue, System Restore is working fine. Any ideas will be appreciated.

After the Cum. v.1803 update, there were updates on v.1803 later.

No restore points were created with the 1709 to 1803 update.
    This worked well.

The update(s) on 1803 later created no restore points too.
The restore points I had defined were gone after the 1803 cum update.

The 1803 update(s) on Cum update 1803 caused additional problems.

A black screen arrives with a circling blue dot, the one that one sometime sees when the first Windows 10 (protection) screen with date/time and password entry comes on the monitor.

The PC cannot restarted, nor booted.
It stops booting just before the mentioned Windows screen has to come on the monitor screen.

    Any solution ?
    This should be simple problem.

I can not use the restore function to go back to a previous restore point.

I have bootable Windows 10 USB stick that boots, it shows the Harddisk drives and partitions are OK.

System Restore has to be set in Windows 10, but reacts different as it should.

Any idea to solve this issue additionl to Mcd763165 will be appreciated.

    Hi Wim44 ,
When you power on the computer is it unbootable or bootable now?
    Do you use Avast antivirus?

    Hi Mcd73165 ,

In looking for information on automatic restore points it appears that it has changed over time depending on the Windows version and build. The larger size of drives today allow more space for restore points but the automatic restore point with windows updates was not displayed for the link.

    Hi @Mcd73165

On my machine system restore is creating restore points for windows updates. version 1803, build 17134.81.

It created one on the 8th June for the Flash Player update KB4287903. I can't tell if it created one for the earlier cumulative update as I have since deleted all but the most recent restore point in Disk Clean up. We can check again on Tuesday when the next cumulative update is expected.

Hi, Bree. Thank you and everyone for the responses. My son's laptop (version 1803 also) did create a restore point for the Flash Player update on June 7th but my PC didn't. Will have to wait for future updates and see then if a restore point is created. My current restore points are ones that I created and a scheduled restore point.

As stated above the PC can not reboot from HD C:\ to the windows opening (protection) screen with date, time and displaying local user who can enter password for using Windows 10.

With USB-stick Windows I can reboot (thats just a bootable USB stick with windows for recovery made with Media Creatioon
    Tool.

I do not use AVAST antivirus.

(I have used AVG without issues, before the update AVG was removed and Windows 10 antivirus/firewall was used)/

    .
All Hardware is OK, when checking with Windows/Dos like Command Prompt Utils (Admin rights).

Bree, my Desktop PC did create a restore point today for KB4284835 so I guess things are working as they should. Thanks again for your input.
