    Hi again
I ran saved .iso from heidoc.net System Protection greyed out-2948.png

I'll have to accept that my machine has a bad drive.
I've been getting too many intermittent Macrium errors and I've run chkdsk too many times to think my drive is healthy.
    For example Error Code 23
Imaging disks with bad sectors - KnowledgeBase - Macrium Reflect Knowledgebase
Yesterday, after I was at 1709 for several hours with several machine restarts. I was able to save two differential backups. Then today a full backup threw Error 23.
Thanks for holding my hand & your help

To confirm your diagnosis, you can run CrystalDisk Info to read the SMART data from the drive. I use the Portable Apps version.

Any reallocated sectors are a bad sign, more than a handful a very bad sign. The key warning signs to look for are...
    Attribute Description
    SMART 5 Reallocated Sectors Count
    SMART 187 Reported Uncorrectable Errors
    SMART 188 Command Timeout
SMART 197 Current Pending Sector Count
    SMART 198 Uncorrectable Sector Count

Yes, I didn't know tool accuracy nor significance of Current Pending Sector Count 100 100.

It's the raw value column you should look at. You don't have any reallocated sectors yet (05) but you do have 270 sectors that are pending reallocation (C5/197).

This disk need replacing (three years of 'power on' time is a good life for an HDD). While you still can, make a Macrium backup of all the partitions so you can recreate all the original partitions (including that OEM Recovery partition) on a replacement drive. The drive plays no part in the hardware ID that your Windows digital license is linked to, so activation will not be a problem after replacing the drive.

Have you thought of getting an SSD?
