If you are prepare to buy a Macrium Reflect Home licence, it has an awesome feature called Rapid Delta Restore whereby it restores backup images by difference rather than restoring whole image. Couple this with regular or scheduled incremental image backups and you have a faster and more reliable rollback system. Not only that, you can roll foward again without having to manually reinstall programs unlike using system restore.

Typically, it takes only 2 minutes to wind back a couple of days, amd always works.

I turn off system restore now.
Although much better way it has a drawback of having to have another (large) disk to keep backups on.

So, whenever we have a problem with Windows we have to buy something.

I'm not here to buy anything.

PS: Please, Do not take it personally. It's just an answer to that kind of thought.:)

    True although it depends...
But with System Restore I feel more free to test whatever I want because of repair time.

And again in other words: I Demand a full working OS.-

You have a full working OS, in this case only the method of doing it has changed. To be frank (no, I'm not Frank), system restore, introduced first in Windows ME, never worked very good and had limited use. Full and multiple system backup was, is and will be best protection. SR is not even close.

    Ok. Let's remove SR.
Have you ever wondered about how many thousands or millions of users do not know even what "Boot" means and they are never going to learn about it? (good for them)
What about them? I think MS should force users to come here and learn...:)

Sometimes I feel that a "Computer driving license" should be required. That's just by judging by my relatives and friends that consider me as primary and free computer service.

So, what do you prefer when your Australian cousin is on the phone asking you for help? To explain how to backup and restore with another OS or how to open System Restore?

Luckily, no Australian cousins, there's one in NZ though but never calls. The rest of them are within driving distance.
