    Question: Macrium Reflect background processes

With Macrium Reflect Free Edition installed I always have three processes in task manager, even if I have not used the program for a while. I run it once a week to manually create a full or differential image, I do not have a schedule set up.

I also have an entry in the Start-Up tab

Are these necessary when Macrium Reflect isn't even open? It is a great bit of software and I dont want to disable anything that might affect it functionality. Thanks

I was able to find this on the services:
Both the UI watcher and Service are automatically started if not running when Reflect starts. If you disable Macrium Reflect Service you may experience problems when using Macrium Reflect to schedule images, we also cannot guarantee that Macrium Reflect will be operational without Macrium Service in future updates.
They are using a very small amount of RAM and no CPU. I would leave them alone.

I am curious why the UI Watcher is set to run on start up though. If it will auto start when the application is launched anyway, might it be ok to disable it in start-up tab?

You're right though, I should just leave it be :)

I am not sure so please don't quote me on this, but I think some parts have to be running if say, you double click an image you have made to browse it, etc.

I don't think it would be a good idea to mess with it. If everything is running fine, why bother? :)

You can disable them all if you only start Macrium manually.

Sorry but I have to ask why the OP is worried about 6mbs of memory ?

Beyond that, I'm not sure (since I've never turned it off), but I believe the "Macrium Reflect Utility Service" has something to do with downloading update's ?

Becasue my pc is 20+ years old and only has 8MB of Ram

Just curious really. As I said, Macrium Reflcet is excellent, cant believe I used to make such slow and bloated system images with windows "back up and restore".

Exactly. Macrium services are essential if you use scheduled automatic backups, but not required if you only ever do backups manually.

What on earth are you talking about. There is not a PC in the world that could run Windows 10 on 8 MB of RAM!

Even XP needed 64 MB of RAM ( recommended 128 MB of RAM).

    Apparently…

The UI watcher is necessary when Reflect is running using a different user account to the currently logged on user.... It's needed in v7 as scheduled tasks run using the SYSTEM account....
