Why is 275GB macrium image backup taking over 3 hrs to create & verify

    I imaged my operational drive (about 500GB) off line using the Macrium WinPE version and it took about 3 hours to a SATA III hard drive. If I do it within Windows 10 it is significantly less (under an hour).

    I'm not totally certain of this, but I believe when you are running WinPe, you are not getting the Windows write cache advantage and other stuff. I can't really explain it, it's like you're running under a somewhat dumbed-down mini OS without all the performance bells and whistles. Maybe someone else, can fill in the blanks. Just my understanding.
