    Hi,
Saying only time I personally have my backup disk connected is when I'm either creating one or restoring one :)
    Otherwise it's in a drawer.
I keep two, one on internal disk and one in removable one. I don't keep any personal data on same physical disk as OS so I see no need to duplicate it's backups every time only at major updates. Personal data (on other disks) is backed up to external disk too but in different process.

It saved me yet once again. I thought about giving Bitdefender Free version a spin last night. I got a BSOD during a scan after install. I then used the BD uninstall tool from their website and thought everything was fine. I got up today and noticed my MR SSD backup had failed. I tried rebooting, etc but nothing worked. It could not backup the SSD.

Booted into MR boot recovery I have on the SSD, restored the C:\ only partition and back to normal. I lost a couple days of stuff I had to redo but now I have come to the conclusion: I shall make a SSD backup before I install any other apps like this from now on. That way I won't have to redo anything again. Thank goodness for MR.

Macrium saved me more times than I can count. Before I use to use that useless System Restore. Sometimes it would work but many times it would seem like it worked but really did not remove the junk or it just failed. I then decided around December to try Macrum reflect after the last reinstall on Halloween after a failed System Restore.

Since then I have been creating image backups two to three times a week on a seperate 1TB external HD. I had issues with my printer not working since updating to the Fall creators update unless I rebooted must have messed something up. I did have to do a clean install of the FCU because my earlier images the printer did not work but after I got everything back created a fresh image which I fall back too to start over.

I then restored again after trying a driver update program that made my computer no longer boot.

Last time I messed up Office bad trying to remove the desktop version and reinstall the store version, these useless fixes online made it that it could no longer find winword.exe and uninstall failed. I just then restored my fall back image image backup from January and I was able to update the store version of office fine.

Recent about a week ago I had a issue with my USB hub no longer seeing 3.0 devices. I then created a image backup then restored my fall back image restore to find out that my 3.0 devices were still not working. I then restored my recent image and ordered a new USB hub. Before that I would have wasted hours reinstalling windows for nothing.

As for my image backups using the Home version it takes about 4 minutes to do a image backup on my SSD and with the free version it took about 10 minutes to restore but now with the Home version it takes about 2 to 4 minutes.
