Windows 10: Should I settle on Acronis True Image (paid version) or Macrium?

Ex Acronis user here. I switched to Macrium last night. It is much nicer than Acronis for me. I have Macrium free version and it does what it is supposed to do unlike Acronis which does this and then adds in so much more bloat and running services, etc.

I have a clean install image with all programs setup saved. I do a 3x weekly image of the SSD, weekly backup of my data drive and monthly of another drive that is 1.4GB. I added in the Macrium boot menu that loads before windows to ask what I want to boot into. Now if I bork the system, I just choose Macrium when I reboot and restore the clean image. If it is totally gone, I have bootable media.

I like it much more than Acronis personally. It is a bit more complex to be honest, but it didn't load a ton of bloat on my system either.

I've been using MR6, now MR7, and Image for Windows/BootIt Bare Metal for some time now. I do have my ATI2016 nonCloud version DVDs and USBs at the ready, hey I got to get my monies worth :)

No contest - Macrium Reflect. The free version is adequate for most users.

I bought the paid version primarily for its awesome Rapid Delta Restore.
+1 and I bought the software also because it's so good, I wanted to support the company.

Yes, I started with Macrium Reflect back in 2012 when I first encountered UEFI/GPT And by 2015 I had moved all my computers to MR, Reason by 2015 Acronis still was not able to create a Disk Image and be able to reliably restore a booting hard drive/SSD. MR has never failed and they do have Intelligent tech support for paying customers.

Macrium all the way! Delta Restore, fast, reliable backups (40GB in < 4 mins, with verify), tons more features.

I never understood this attitude. Macrium isn't made by a teenager in his bedroom relying for pocket money from well meaning passers by - their last published results showed net assets of 800k (quite why I bothered looking this up idk). It is a surely sensible to use the free version if it does what you want (that is their business model after all). If the extra features in the paid version are worth the money then buy it.

No-one would (for example) change to a more expensive electricity tariff if their current supplier didn't interrupt delivery for a year just to support them - so why give extra money to a software house for making something that works?

I'd appreciate the extra income if it was my company for sure - it just seems a weird thing to do.

Mind you I'd probably buy them a beer if I met them in the pub (which destroys my argument somewhat I can tell).

Funny thing is I recently had a protracted discussion with Acronis pointing out their poor image, and gave a number of supporting links, and they replied their marketing demonstrated they had best customer satisfaction. I challenged them to find one post where users are dissatisfied with Macrium Reflect, and they just replied I had deliberately chosen links to make Acronis less attractive and I should BUY new version and judge myself.

As my dear departed Gran used to say "There are none so blind as those who refuse to see!".

    LOL!
I meant "also" as in "for the features" plus to support them. I appreciate the RDR, Incrementals and MIG. Macrium have saved my a$$ many times - MIG alone is worth the money.

Yes, that is how I saw them too, the program not working, no tech support, long technology workarounds in there support forum. And they just don't care, that they make very obvious.
