I did warn you a few posts back. I had a similar experience with their so called customer support about removing deeply embedded drivers left behind by the poorly engineered Acronis uninstaller - see here https://www.eightforums.com/threads/...drivers.62551/

just been onto Computeractive Store site and would you believe it, they are selling Acronis True Image v2016 still.
I wonder if they know that according to Acronis, it is defunct!

    Lol. Latest reply from the clowns at Acronis below;
    Hello Graham,

Thank you for your email. I am Dillu, Manager from Acronis Customer Central and thank you for writing to managers@acronis.

I have read the case, understand your concern and the reason for your disappointment. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. Acronis True Image 2016 is indeed a life time Perpetual license. But then the technical support is limited. As per support policy, Acronis provides technical support for the latest and second latest versions via email and chat media. At this moment, the only supported versions are :

    - Acronis True Image 2018 and,
    - Acronis True Image 2017

Here is the support policy link for your reference: Support for Older Versions of Acronis Products | Knowledge Base

Graham, we thank you for interest in Acronis products. Your complaint is important to us and has been recorded into Acronis internal systems. Your expectations weren't met and we sincerely regret about that.

I appreciate your patience & time shared in this matter. Feel free to get back to me or support should you have any further questions.

    Have a nice day ahead!

    My reply to Acronis.

    My dear Mr Singh.
I am finding it extremely difficult to understand your reply, let alone swallow it's glib content.
Please let me reiterate the facts to you clearly and to the point

    1. I purchased an item from your company, Acronis True Image 2016 plus a copy backup disc for that product.
    2. It failed to do its job and protect my computer.
    3. As clearly stated by yourself;" I have read the case, understand your concern and the reason for your disappointment. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience. Acronis True Image 2016 is indeed a Perpetual license life time"
4.There was NO NOTIFICATION FROM YOUR COMPANY THAT DUE TO YOU WISHING TO CHANGE THE RULES,MID STREAM,THAT (a) my product would no longer work, consequently, any backups already in place would be affected or cease to function. (b) That reinstallation would no longer be possible. IN OTHER WORDS, WE HAVE TAKEN YOUR MONEY,CAUSED YOU SEVERE POBLEMS and now you are on your own!

In the united Kingdom we have in place ,laws to protect the consumer against just such a case as this. I respectfully suggest sir, you reconsider your attitude upon this matter.

    Yours sincerely.
    G.Marshall.

    Frankly you are being ridiculous.

Professional paid software is rarely sold on basic of perpertual support. They would have stated in terms and conditions you get a period of support and after that many offer ongoing support contracts for a fee. Even the paid versions of Macrium Reflect only give one year of free support.

You are talking nonsense about UK laws - they do not say any version has to be supported in perpetuity - only that any purchase has to meet a reasonable warranty period after purchase, and moreover the warranties are between buyer and seller. If you buy an item from Argos, your warranty is with them not original vendor. If you bought direct from Acronis, you can be sure your warrany period has expired.

Whilst I am not a fan of Acronis and their business model, I have to say I am with them on this. Buy a new version or go elsewhere - end of story!

I'm still wondering why ATI2016 did not install; I would like to learn from this -- I wish I knew what the fatal error message was.

I concluded 2 years ago Acronis software and is poorly engineered for reasons I won't go into here. I will never uses an Acronis product again based on my experience. I recommend you use the excellent system backup program Macrium Reflect. The free version is suitable for most users. I think the failed Acronis installation has done you a favour!

Yes I learnd my lesson with Acronis way back in 2012, When I was first introduced to UEFI, Acronis claimed to support UEFI however none of the images created would restore a booting OS. I moved at that time to Macrium Reflect for my UEFI Notebook. I continued using Acronis for my MBR machines. Upon upgrading some desktop in 2015 I naturally installed them UEFI and right way found that Acronis still could not restore a booting OS. on there support forum I found there were some hoops to jump through and sometimes it would work!!!! At that time I bought a 4 pack of Macrium Reflect Pro. I have never had any sort of failure restoring images or file backups 100% function correctly since.

    "... I bought a 4 pack of Macrium Reflect Pro...' So did I :)
And, I have a 5-computer pack from Terabytes Unlimited for Image for Windows, and its companion: BootIt Bare Metal.
Along with all of that, because it still works on my BIOS/MBR desktop and 2 laptops, I kept my three licenses for ATI2016 nonCloud version.
