The last thing to do is the memory test however I can't boot from a USB, that is what started this thread. It seems even though I have the option, I won't work. Which download is for a DVD?

The chkdsk command when run with switches /x /f /r typically runs up to a number in the low teens. It remains there until the fix and recover is completed. On a 750 GB HD it can take 4 hours. The larger the drive or the more issues found the longer the test.
There were no major problems found or fixed in the above results.

Sometimes settings needed to be modified in order to text the RAM using Memtest86+ version 5.01
These are some of the trial and error modifications:

    Note
If you have fast boot or ultra fast boot enabled in your UEFI firmware settings, then you will need to temporarily disable fast boot or ultra fast boot to be able to boot from a USB.

How to Enable Fast Boot or Ultra Fast Boot in UEFI Firmware Settings for Windows: Enable or Disable Fast Boot in UEFI Firmware Settings for Windows Windows 10 Tutorials

    1. Try another USB stick
    2. Try all USB ports (2.0 and 3.0)
    3. Maybe when using UEFI Bios you have to temporarily switch to Legacy in BIOS settings
    4. Turn off temporarily fast boot, secure boot, CSM if enabled

For startup and recovery > settings > system failure:
    a) un-check automatically restart
    b) make sure that write debugging information displays: automatic memory dump

On the right side it displays
    RAM
    Timings
    Pass
Follow the numbers in the Pass
If there is just 1 error you an abort testing.
The testing can be ran overnight and viewed the next day.
When the testing is complete please use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post the image into the thread.
It sometimes takes passes into the 20s to find malfunctioning RAM.
So the longer the test the better the testing conditions.
