Just a friendly reminder, regardless of which backup / restore program(s) used, ensure full, incremental, differential, folder/file images always have images go to any reliable external media. For example, my computers are backed up onto their respective "twins" -- usb-connected, external, pancake-sized, platter-driven, 1TB hard-drives.

I guess i could try and test it on my laptop. See if aomei works on it, if it doesnt, i might have to buy the pro version to make it work.

I have been using aomei for some time and I'm satisfied with it.

But I'm not sure if I should buy the professional version. Some of the features such as universal restore seems interesting.

    What do you guys think?
Rarely needed. Windows 10 is very good at sorting drivers when changing hardware. You can always run sysprep anyway.

Sorry if this is an obvious thing to say but do try to restore your backup too. Make it, boot from your USB rescue drive and restore it.

It would be anoying to have a seemingly successfully made backup you can't restore - this happened to me with Paragon in the past.

Well the back up is completed, and everything works perfectly on my laptop.

Seems to be the case. I just don't really get the point of having a universal restore feature, if it itsn't really needed for anything.

That is very strange, I just used it on my laptop without any problems, despite my laptops hardware being completely different than my desktops.

It depends how different the hardware is. You might need to use universal restore, but not necessarily.
