Unlike Chrome where the webcam is cool, Cortana makes the cam quite warm.

So using Cortana is OK even with the light always on. I did not know that. My phone has OK Google and I know what you mean - at the ready.
Thank you for clarifying what many might not know..

Check in your privacy settings. Cortana is turning on MIC (with light) and maybe camera. It shouldn't be turn on camera.

It's likely the light that is warming but I would check.

Actually it is a good idea to check Privacy settings. Amazing what is asking for or has defaulted to using your camera, your location, your contacts.

Because I am unsure of privacy settings I disabled all. I hope if it is something needed it will ask or indicate for m to change.

    That will do it.

The vendors should do a better job of explaining access. We had a situation in Canada where a big bank wanted access to your location. Of course everyone freaked and it made the paper. Then they explained to use the feature, "where is the nearest bank machine" they need to know where you are. Then they changed to while using app.

We the public can't just roll over on privacy but its a balancing act between convenience and the need for privacy.
