Ccleaner Trojan Alert on Latest Version 5.36.6728

    HI All

In Process of repairing a Avast issue on Mom's PC, decided to update to latest version of Ccleaner at same time, well before I had Avast back in, Defender detected a Trojan and deleted it, I thought that problem was all solved weeks ago, I can get the specific threat info if need be, virustotal says the file is clean, so confused on what proper way to do things now.

I'll have a screenshot in a few moments, will have to up there most likely and get the screen shot then transfer it down here to post

Will Scan the Intel Atom PC, installed on that one, as Avast showed was clean, and also will check my main desktop shortly

*Reason why I still use Avast on each and every PC wasn't sure I trusted Defender, but maybe after this, i'll go thru the hassle of removing Avast from every PC and just stick with Defender and MSE on the Little Windows 7 slow Atom PC, I thought the Ccleaner issue was all solved though

Just checked latest version with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes...both given clean bill of health.
Somewhere down the line your mom clicked on a dodgy link.

Actually I clicked on the link this morning, as I was in process of repairing Avast Antivirus as on every boot it was popping up to select Free or Paid version, so started clean install process on admin account, then Popup came for Ccleaner update from version 5.35 to 5.36.6728, so clicked to go get the update, selected free, Filehippo.com, hit Download latest version, and it resulted in that popping up with Trojan message.

Probably best to download from Piriform, though other sites may be reputable.

Yeah might be best to download from Piriform from now on, going thru all the hassle of dealing with checking all the machines earlier after that, used to my quick system lol, not that used to working on the slower ones lol, but all show clean now, with full Malwarebytes scan, Full defender scan that took hours, and MSE scan that took a good 4 hours on that one even slower Computer lol---May have to end up putting Avast back in as it's so much faster scanning lol

And you believe a false positive? over those that specialise? MS will get WD up to speed with the telemetry gained from other AV's .. 'till then it's playing catch-up.

Well maybe a False positive, I checked with virus total, came back clean, Malwarebytes scan--clean, even tried to redownload It on Main Windows 10 Pro x64 system, and no alert, maybe after removing Avast, and restarting, and downloading that next, and maybe Defender wasn't up to date yet is my guess, only guessing as so far only showed alert on secondary system

Removed Avast to fix issue with it, was popping up on startup to select edition all the time, example Select Free or Pro Edition, (on every boot) so I decided to remove, and prepare for clean install, and then I updated Ccleaner, and then it popped that alert, so spent hours scanning it again, and came back clean after several scans

Should I do more? should I reinstall Avast on each system, and then recheck them all?

I wish Microsoft would make MSE for Win10, I used it on Win7 and never gotten a virus or malware like I did with those paid antivirus softwares.
