    redirect to msftconnecttest.com/redirect in startup

    Hi.
Every time I restart my system or turn on from a shut down, this website "http://www.msftconnecttest.com/redirect" opens automatically in microsoft edge and obviously it dont go anywhere just saying chek your firewall and network Diagnostics. I have search alot but couldnt find a useful solution.
Any idea how to stop this from poping up every time windows starts? its really annoying.
Any help on this would be really appreciated.thx

Please download Malwarebytes' AdwCleaner onto your Desktop.

    • Double click on AdwCleaner_xxxx.exe to run the tool.
    • Click on Scan.
    • After done scanning, please hit Logfile. Locate the logfile in the Scan tab, double-click on it, copy the information inside of it, and paste it into your next reply.
    • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[Sx].txt as well.

Hey this is an old thread but one that came up when I searched for the same issue that you are experiencing and what solved it was turning the test that windows performs off.

You can do it via this reg fix, which sets the dword to 0 instead of 1.:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet]
    "EnableActiveProbing"=dword:00000000

I have been experiencing this since the time I got my DELL Inspiron 3280 - AIO in Dec 2019 wherein it directs me to a bosch.com website. Yes, by doing a registry edit, one can prevent this redirect and network check but ..... according to my research into this .........

hmmm.... It has been there since Windows Vista and one never knew

If you set a registry key to prevent NCSI ( Network Connection Status Icon ) from connecting to http://msftconnecttest.com/redirect , applications that perform checks for the existence of Internet connectivity might work more slowly. Also, if a computer running Windows 10 is brought into a hot spot that requires sign-in, the computer might not detect the hot spot.

Should I block http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt on my Barracuda Product? | Barracuda Campus

What have I got to do with bosch.com?????? And why that Privacy settings popup inside this popup - the unsolicited website????????

Resolution: If it happens and it takes you to MSN website or anyother website ( like Bosch.com in my case) be aware that Windows 10 has satisfied itself that you have an active internet connection. Just close that website and proceed with your browsing.

A related event as I came to know just now:

Many a times even as my PC is connected to the internet and I am browsing as usual. Windows will suddenly report "No Internet connection". My only thought: Windows 10 must be mad .

Just came across this which says it is normal and as a result of this Internet Active Probing by Windows.

    Cause
    • Functions as designed
    • The above behavior is normal and is expected due to Internet Active Probing being enabled. This may occur during laptop reboots/ restarts/ wakes from sleep mode/ undocks. Internet Active Probing is a Windows feature that executes on the computer to check for an active internet connection.

    Resolution:
"the users should browse Internet Explorer or/and click on the notification in Action Center. This completes the Active Probing process. Give it 30 seconds or so and the "yellow informational symbol" will go away."

GTACKnowledge - Windows 10 Machine Connects to Internet but Reports "No Internet Connection"

Now I am going mad !
