    KRAck

Norton are trying to persuade me to upload an anti KRAK programme at a cost. Apparently the KRACK attacks Wi-Fi. Is there anything I should do to secure my Wi-Fi or will already been done by a Microsoft update please?

    Hi RonBin79.

If you are staying up to date on updates then according to this article you are okay. MS released Oct 19/17

    Thanks Ken,

I can only assume the Microsoft has done the necessary with its automatic updates. Unfortunately I do not know how to find out exactly what they have added to my computer, does it come under "Downloads" please? I understand I do not have to worry about Apple units as Apple will not accept other peoples anti virus programmes on either their IPhones or any other hardware using Apple and they have already issued a patch for Krack.

    Thanks again,

    Ken,

I found out where to find what auto updates had been installed but for the moment it says the computer is currently installing updates! There must be hundreds of them!

In continuation to this thread, I found 6 or 7 updates had failed to be installed whilst in update status. Suddenly they are now all being installed. What could be the problem that caused them not to be installed in the first place, anyone any ideas please?RonBin79

I wouldn't be too concerned about a few updates failing. I think everyone has seen an update fail. It's when one fails over and over again.

Are you saying over time there are hundreds of updates in your system or just know when you checked there are hundreds being installed. or hundreds have failed. Could I ask what version build you are on.

Windows key + R, type Winver, enter.

Thanks for your reply Ken. I have version 1607 with OS Build 14393.1770. I have made 12 attempts to upload one update all to no avail. I have ensured I have no virus in the system so am at a loss as to what to do. Datchina (Guru) sent me instructions which in my case were rather too technical for my understanding and as they say, a little knowledge is dangerous. I have rung a local computer shop who does repairs etc but the owner said he knew very little about auto updates and why they would not upload. If you have any advice it will be gratefully received.

    Ken,

There are six failed updates waiting to be uploaded, one of which MS 19/10/17 contains the KRACK patch.

I have just noticed that all the failed updates are for Vers 1703 whereas I have vers 1607, could that be the cause of the failures do you think?

The sooner you update to the Fall Creators version 1709....the safer you will be.
