Because I think it's one of the best AV out there and I also feel that the other AV companies are just as complicit with their respective governments/security agencies as is being claimed about Kaspersky. As I said, the controversy is dubious, fits an agenda and seems to be more about Kaspersky not whitelisting and previously exposing NSA sponsored malware.

BTW, do you trust your Chinese made hardware?

Anyway, as this is wildly off-topic, I'll move on.
I don't trust them either. And for the record, no I haven't trusted Chinese software for a long time.

My PC recently often occur BSOD "Kmode exception not handled", which is after installing KTS 2018. Now BSOD doesn't occur again after going back to KTS 2017. However, I am not sure if bsod will occur again later. My question is that , can antivirus cause BSOD? But it seems that antivirus is not hardware related.
Getting back to the original topic ...

I updated another PC to the CU yesterday and KTS 2018 reported a load error. I uninstalled and reinstalled KTS 2018 as the program recommended and all is now fine. Have you tried reinstalling KTS 2018?

This DM log collector we use in the BSOD forum and it will automatically collect information to troubleshoot the bsod: (mini dumps, msinfo32, dxdiag, event.vwr etc.)

I wish to stay on topic :)

I have used Kaspersky internet security for several years now. In last years new build I did encounter BSOD random shutdowns. I believe from what I have read on the K forum is this years early builds are experiencing this again.

What I did last year to solve mine was this - Write down your preferred settings and ensure you have your product key- turn off self-defense - exit Kaspersky (from tray icon right click) uninstall Kaspersky - reboot - run K-remover (Kaspersky web site) - reboot - install the newest file from Kaspersky update date bases and - reboot

This solved my issues last year, most came to the conclusion some files left over interfered with the new build. This year there may have been problems early on in build A and B (we are at D now) due to the BSOD's being noted on new installs.

Hope this helps some -- Bill

I've been in I.T. for 28 years and have utilized and tested many security products over the years. I've been using Kaspersky Total Security on my primary systems for several years now and have found it to be one of the best I have ever run.

Being a tech, I'm fortunate to have several systems running at any time, so I am able to run different security products on a couple of my lab systems for comparison. In that regard, I have found Kaspersky and Bitdefender currently to offer the best protection, with the least problems otherwise.

I recently read a review from PcMag comparing products where they still rate Kaspersky high, and have a disclaimer basically saying that until the accusations are actually proven, they will continue to rate it as such.

Many, in the I.T. community still regard Kaspersky Total Security as one of the best, with no concerns over hacking. Personally, I'll trust the opinion of my fellow I.T. people before I trust any propaganda from the government or it's news outlets. (Still with no actual, verifiable proof). What many do not know, is that many of the better security software out there are from various foreign countries. Many jumped on the paranoia bandwagon, but ignored the spying that the NSA has done. Double standard ? Which foreign products should you trust?
If you ask enough I.T. people, you will get many different recommendations, some of which is just based on their own favorite, but also take into consideration special circumstances they may have regarding compatibility.

I've uninstalled Kaspersky antivirus and I just use Defender now. I'd rather have the NSA than the FSB spy on me plus my bank has withdrawn their free Kaspersky licence.
