    Hi xdarkmario.

If you are absolutely sure the pest is gone you could try an in place repair / upgrade. I would backup my data files at a minimum and would even consider creating an image with a toll like Macrium Reflect.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

This process will upgrade you to V1703 if you are not already using Creator Update, FYI.

I actually got it working by forcing to safe mode via command prompt and then changing back to regular mode via msconfig.

Great. The repair process listed in the tutorial may fix other things that your bug caused that you have not experienced yet. No need to run now but if you do find some other quirky things you can look at it.

    Thanks for posting your solution.

Edit, it's not working after rebooting. Back to square one.

Seems you did not in fact get everything out. Apparently there's a process left that's disabling Defender when you restart. What did you use to try and get rid of the virus?

My first step would be to run Rkill. That will stop known malicious services then, without restarting, immediately run AdwCleaner.

What did it say it found? AdwCleaner writes its log to a text file in C:\AdwCleaner

Looks like it took a number of keys out of registry.

Have you tried the in place repair / upgrade? (with the backups in place)
