    "A problem occurred... Bitdefender Threat..."

    Windows 10, Lenovo P50

I didn't buy the software. I didn't knowingly download the software and I certainly didn't install the software.

Bitdefender does not appear in Programs/Uninstall. It does does appear in the active programs list.

A Search Everything search only yields one instance of BitDefender: BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp, 0 bytes.

I downloaded the 2017 Bitdefender uninstaller (I have no idea which Bitdefender product is present nor do I know the version so this uninstaller was a shot in the dark). It ran to completion but the problematic error persists.

How might I get rid of this?

How about 'Spybot - Search & Destroy'?

    Bitdefender Threat Scanner.dmp
If you receiving the following message, it is possible that one of Spybot’s files has become corrupted and needs to be replaced.

Thanks, but I do not know how you knew?

I had searched online a few times and only came up with the antivirus program Bitdefender. After reading your post I searched Spybot help for bitdefender with no results.

Downloading and copying the file in question to Spybot's program folder didn't work (even after running the software manually) before restarting.

FWIW, it took 2 re installs and 2 uninstalls to finally clear the error message. The first uninstall stalled with the error message popping up and wouldn't clear, I stopped the program, it was no longer listed among installed programs but I installed again and the second uninstall went fine and restart no long shows the error.

No more Spybot. Not necessary ;-) and THANKS!

There's an art to Googling. I used the search term "Bitdefender Threat Scanner.dmp" and it came up as the second hit. Glad it worked out (eventually) for you.
