Interesting, try to run this as admin:

    Code:
    takeown /f "%WINDIR%\System32\MRT.exe" /a
    icacls "%WINDIR%\System32\MRT.exe" /grant:r Everyone:F /c
    start "" "%WINDIR%\System32\MRT.exe"

The last command returns that the app is blocked by group policies.

I ran that command and it came out ok. SUCCESS: The file (or folder): "C:\WINDOWS\System32\MRT.exe" now owned by the administrators group.

How about this one? But then again, if it is blocked by policies, this will not really help.
    Code:
    takeown /f "%WINDIR%\System32\MRT.exe" /s %computername% /u %USERNAME%
    icacls "%WINDIR%\System32\MRT.exe" /grant:r %USERNAME%:F /c
    start "" "%WINDIR%\System32\MRT.exe"

...App is blocked by group policies: contact system administrator.

    Thanks all the same.

It's a logistics nightmare. You have to download the MSRT in order to run it manually these days. Did you try manually downloading the tool?

    No, I didn't. I use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but I think I'll give it a try. Thank you.

I always d/l MSRT as the stand alone file & run it before I apply the patches. I put it in a desktop folder so that if I need access to it I can find it easily.
