    Windows Defender Security Center Question

I have a question regarding the Windows Defender Security Center icon which appears when you click on the arrow on the task bar. It has an exclamation point and when I highlight the icon it states 'actions recommended' but when IO open the Windows Defender Security Center everything looks OK. I have Norton Internet Security installed on my PC.

What can I do to fix it or is there anything wrong?

    Thanks

Does your Windows Defender screen look like this? Or is there something that looks different for you?

Yes it does. I have since rebooted and the Windows Defender Security Center icon has now returned to normal (i.e. with a green tick). Thanks for the reply.

The exclamation mark on the Windows Defender Security Center icon has returned (even if I reboot) and if I open the Windows Defender Security Center everything has a green tick so it looks like nothing is wrong. Is there somewhere else I have to look at?

    Go to Windows Defender
    Press Virus & threat protection
Press Scan history (is anything in there that was removed recently?)
    Go back
    Press Advanced scan
    Do a full system scan
    (Hopefully the thing disappears..)

Maybe also after this, do the Windows Defender Offline scan

There are no threats found - I have Norton Internet Security installed on my PC so should I run a full scan with that?

Yes do that. Maybe Windows Defender is missing verification that Norton has ever done a thorough system scan.

I have run a full scan of Norton Internet Security but nothing has changed with Windows Defender Security icon. I will see what happens when I shut down and restart later today. The scan found nothing (no threats).

I think I have answered my own problem as somehow in Windows Defender Security Center I had periodic scanning turned on even thought I have Norton Internet Security installed on my PC. Once I turned periodic scanning off the green tick returned to the Windows Defender Security Center icon. Thanks for your help.
