Windows Defender Showing Items Skipped During Scan after each scan

    Hi All

Trying Windows Defender to see if I can get used to it and how it affects performance and such, but after each scan popups and says items skipped during scan, my exclusions for Secondlife game, which is required to have it run properly.

    Should I just ignore that?

    Games I play regularly are
    Battlefield 4
    American truck Simualtor
    Secondlife

sites visit regularly is here, neowin.net, guru3d at times, dslreports at times, local news, and local newspaper, adblocked enabled in Edge.

previously for the last few years used Avast Free, but kinda feeling like every month of program updates, and then more bugs, then another update is getting time consuming to trouble shoot, though i'll probably have to leave it running on Mom's PC since she does banking, and other Windows 7 PC not sure on using MSE on that one, I might use it

If you told it to exclude files then yes. Defender is used by a number of members.

That said, and not knowing all the details around Secondlife and the reason for the exclusion, I might periodically remove all the exclusions and run the scan. Then when the scan completes I would re-instate exclusions.

I say this because if I were a bad person and I knew there were folders that were being excluded I would pick that as a place to hide.

Now if you do remove the exclusions for a periodic scan, and not being familiar with why the exclusions are required you might find it deletes / quarantines files or registry entries required for your game. I would have a backup in place to repair damage.

By backup I mean data (Game saves, data, whatever) and a system image. A tool like Macrium Reflect could be used for Image and you can determine what it should image.

Yes I've been running Secondlife 32bit for first 4 years I was in there, then Firestorm 32bit for a while, and now Firestorm 3rd party viewer 64bit ever since, antivirus_whitelisting [Phoenix Firestorm Project - Wiki] (On Each version update before I redo the exclusisons I always run a full system scan, always came up clean

I do use Macrifum Reflect and Image has been done

So Think i'm pretty safe at this point hopefully lol
