How long do pc repair shops usually take to fix my problem?

    I doubt that other forum steered you very wrong -- they did the best they could with the understanding they had of your situation.

    And do be aware that, especially with OEMs and warranties, it is possible the shortest route is to simply start by setting the computer back to its as-shipped condition which usually results in losing all your data. Be sure to have a backup copy of anything you don't want to lose, anything that exists nowhere else. Programs can always be reinstalled.

    As long as there was no encryption of your files, repair is usually quite simple with those: Boot to cleaning media and it's gone. Couple hours work. Sometimes the SAM file needs to be reverted.
