The system is a French install, the message
'Mise à jour des définitions pour Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Définition 1.241.296.0) - Erreur 0x800700c1'
    translates as:
    Update Definitions for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.241.296.0) - Error 0x800700c1

@ray06130, first, try restarting the PC. Click on Start and select Restart from the power button (not Shut Down which may use 'fast start').

Try checking for updates now. If it still has an error, open a Command Prompt (Admin) and type the following commands:

    Net stop bits
    Net stop wuauserv
    Net start wuauserv
    Net start bits

    Try checking for updates again.

If you still can't update Defender's definitions, open the Windows Defender Security Centre. You can get to it by clicking 'Windows Defender' on the list to the left of your screenshot, or right-click on the Defender icon in the notification area. Click on 'Virus & threat protection', then on 'Protection updates'. You can check for updates from here too. This usually works when Windows Update has a problem. Once you have successfully updated the definitions, Windows Update may well work normally again.

    Manual Update: mpam-fe.exe

If the Bree solution is still not working, get it manually there and click on Download the latest update. That will open a new page as shown in the screenshot: What's New - Microsoft Malware Protection Technologies

Make sure you are selecting the 32-bit version if the machine spec is OK. After, click the .exe file (mpam-fe.exe) and let the process work (about 30 Sec.).

Then, open Windows Defender Security Center to see the new definition update.

Do you mean running the following in Run Dialog Box?

    "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" "RemoveDefinitions -All"
    "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" "-SignatureUpdate"

Mine is a Chinese one, and I will change the display language beforehand if I have to post a screenshot here.

Did you have to reboot it between running the above and the following?
