Another question: when you add .reg keys and\or toggle the polices in gpedit, are the modifications applied at once
ASAP, I simply redownloaded the file and it was there and then it was gone.

Either way, since you are obviously versatile with GPO, you might have some other settings interfering or other software? Those policies are user based, so any restrictive HKLM policy will override them.

About instant applies, this is a confirmation since when i remotely assist that guy i can remember it instantly worked.
About GPO i'm not versatile at all i just search in internet if i need info of some GPOs but i don't know them at all, i can say.
Now i try your way and see if it solves...but...we don't have to forget this is all just via telegram desktop and i'm pretty sure in browser is fine...so..if it's on telegram's devs'end...i think all we can do is just the manual stuff...

I have just disabled Microsoft Defender readily via NSudo, which I used to disable automatic Windows updates.

Ok, i've just tested it by disabling\enabling GPO and it works just out of the browsers. Not in IMs (telegram in this case) so...
should i go to telegram support (and they will answer around a year in a pandemic world) or it's better to find how windows is managing telegram attachments like via regedit and\or GPOs?

    Windows/Microsoft Defender Disable.bat at main . TairikuOokami/Windows . GitHub

Tamper protection has to be disabled manually, so malware could not disable Defender as easily.

Turn On or Off Tamper Protection for Microsoft Defender Antivirus

It works on 21H1, but you have to run it twice to disable services. It should say successful at the end.
Just downloaded this one updated 16 days ago..
Is it valid for every tuesday patch day? Like today?
    Thanks

For now, but 21H2 will be a tough nut to crack, even Defender Control is struggling with it.

latest version of Defender Control still disables msmpeng.exe fine (that app was updated in late April 2021)
older versions of Defender Control may either get flagged or removed by WD so always download & use the newest version
