    Windows 10 Defender

    Hi Good day to all.
Had windows ten for a long time now and running Kaspersky antivir, Well the licence is coming close for renewal and been looking at the windows defender that is built into windows 10.
What is the popularity of this defender does it do the job as described?
Any help on this please, Shall I install windows defender ??

Windows Defender is good and does the job I have it on all my systems
When you uninstall your antivirus completely you should find windows defender will kick in if it does not then go to windows update and security in settings and click on it there, but on my systems it did it on its own make sure that it updates also will probably want yo do a scan to clear any rubbish out,
    Hope that helps you

If you decide to remove Kaspersky I suggest using their official removal tool. If you uninstall using Control Panel > Programs and Features, you may find that Kaspersky may not uninstall correctly or remnants of the application may remain in the system which could prevent Window Defender (or any other installed AV software) from functioning properly. Be sure to read "How to use the tool" near the bottom of the link. It also wouldn't hurt to create a new Restore Point or full System Image prior to uninstalling. You never know when or if an "oh crap" moment might occur.

Have used Windows Defender on W10 from the day the laptop was bought (2016). Never had a problem.

Also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free version.

It might help others who read this thread to know what kinds of problems you've experienced.

For the record, all of my Windows 10 machines are using Windows Defender and I've not experienced any issues at all. I also run several on-demand scanners monthly and none have ever detected any malware. That suggests to me that Windows Defender is doing its job.

But still you aren't elaborating about your opinions. Hard to understand what you are talking about. So far, you are only working on assumptions. As stated before, it could be useful to know what issues you are having with WD.

I work as an IT guy part-time. I format a lot of PCs. I like to test out AV programs everynow and then. I will stick with WD for now. It does its job. Never had an issue on any machine I installed w10 on it.
