Security auditing - how to disable?

I noticed after checking my event viewer for something that under Windows>security, there are tons and tons of "audit success" entries. Is this necessary for the PC to run security auditing constantly like this and log it? It seems unnecessary. Can I disable it?

No reason to. Compared to the enterprise editions or what gets setup in corporate environments, the consumer versions of Windows and their Security Audit reporting is nothing.

Okay, but that doesn't really explain why it's doing it, or if and how I can disable it if I want to. My hard drive always seems to be scribbling something even while in idle. The less logging the drive has to do the better.

I guess I"m not going to get any assistance on this one? I'd just like to know if this is necessary, as it's adding a ton of entries constantly.

Could you post a screen shot using snip tool or something similar ? Makes it easier to see exact issue.

Also, is there an Event ID number identifying the process ?

I already looked it up there is no control for those audit messages. The ones you can configure are already off by default. However, honestly it doesn't matter. The logs trim themselves once reaching a set size.

Okay, thank you then. I just wanted to be sure it was normal to have so many entries being logged, sometimes a bunch over just a few seconds of time.
