WD shuts itself off, when used icw MalwareBytes. Wich is kinda strange, because MBam isn't a standalone AV, but more anti malware and they are not the same if I understand it correctly?

Should we all switch to Windows defender and save the costs of AV software?
Every computer that a friend has given me to clean off major malware or virus infections has had multiple anti-everything programs on it. I've got a dozen computers in my house with as many as 5 users and I only run Windows Defender. I get maybe 1 computer per year that gets infected with little pop-up window malware that is cleaned by a simple disk cleanup with Windows built-in disk cleanup and CCleaner. I've been using PCs since the '80s.

My real life experience has shown me that running anything extra is not worth the resources and that no program is going to replace a few simple safe browsing habits.

Things have changed quite a bit since XP. Everybody advised that if you are using Windows, don't use it or go on the internet without an antivirus.

AV software displays many of the symptoms of actual viruses. They're deeply engrained in your system, they interrupt your workflow by pestering you to upgrade definitions or upgrade subscriptions and they slow your system down.

Without definition updates they soon become useless. WD does same thing, sometimes 5 or more times a day.

Yes found that with McAfee on all my systems, removed it from every single one and WD now on all of them and all fast and no problems so far.
I Like the way WD just sits there doing its job and updates in background with no hassle

All these bad reports on AV progs, what with their drawbacks such as nag nag annoyances and hogging resources.
Must put in a good recommendation....have been using Bitdefender free since release, low on resources, no nag nag, hardly know its there, plus its warned against several undesirable links...and yes have checked to confirm they were real....but missed or not warned by Defender.
