I like WD as "enough basic" protection but I have switched to AVAST because I was having a lot of trouble with some games, specially Grim Dawn, even if I had an exclusion for my whole Steam folder.
I have resolved these issues by setting up more exceptions. I can now continue using Good ole' Defender. AVAST had slowed things down by a bit.

I have always had some issues with Avast disk and memory performance. Windows Defender is great, fast and minimal memory footprint. If I need fancy features that any internet security suits offers, then I install BitDefender, but I doubt I will ever need all those added features anymore.

Good evening, just got a Dell Latitude E5400 last night, it is running Windows 10 Pro, had a windows 7 laptop that decided to self destruct when trying to program a digital ham radio.... so ended up getting this one, it works great so far but since I usually use Mac computers and been away from windows for the past few years except for using the Toshiba for weather radar and programming radios, not real sure if I need to find an alternate anti virus for windows 10 or is windows defender good enough? I was using Comodo internet security for the Toshiba laptop.
you have to find an alternate anti virus, best for you. check any sales on Walmart etc.
