    Windows Defender or Malwarebytes

I have Windows 10 and have used the free Malwarebytes for quite sometime. However, I've read where Windows Defender does a pretty good job. I suppose it's all a matter of opinion but I'm thinking of removing Malwarebytes and just using Defender. Or do you think that's a bad idea?

    Hi:

Short answer (as a prelude to what will inevitably turn out to be a long thread):

Windows Defender under Win10 = apple (real-time AV)
MBAM FREE (or the new version, MB3 FREE) = orange (manual, on-demand scanner without real-time protection)

Neither MBAM Free nor MB3 Free would replace Windows Defender (WD) as a real-time anti-virus.
They are both manual, second-opinion scanners.
    Neither provides real-time protection.
You still need WD or a similar, robust, free or paid AV.

MBAM Premium (version 2): NOT an AV; designed to run alongside an AV, such as WD, for layered protection.
As to whether you are comfortable replacing WD with the new "MB3 Premium", touted by the company as an "AV Replacement", that's up to you. You might want to read the first post and last several pages HERE for more perspective.

    So:
Removing MBAM Free or MB3 Free does not gain anything, as you lose the use of the manual, on-demand, second-opinion scanner. I would keep it.
Whether you wish to replace WD with another real AV or with MB3 Premium, the "AV Replacement" is up to you.:)

    HTH for starters,

What you said makes sense to me. I’ll keep both on here. Thanks
