Mike, I understand what you are saying about "crap" users have on some pc's. But, in my case, I have the same specs and same "crap" installed on 2 pc's and one works (except for Website Protection working properly) and the other does not - slows to a crawl, and is non-responsive. I was of an opinion like yours, but I can't explain or figure out the differences in my 2 pc's. I also resent being a paid customer and doing Beta testing for MBAM.

    John:

I fully understand what you are saying. It is strange why the one computer would be having so many problems with Malwarebytes but the other computer is not, even though they are identical.

I still stick to the reasoning and I could be totally wrong, but if you have for example ram from the same company, same model etc, but yet you can still have problems, different production lots, different tolerances but still within spec etc. The computer is a simple machine, but yet so complex.

I totally agree, I do not like being the Beta Tester for something especially since I paid for the product. Just trying to point out that even though version 3 did go thru Beta Testing, each computer is so much different and Beta Testing could not possibly cover off everything. While I admit some of the problems with version 3 seem to be reoccurring in each new update, they don't quite have a handle on it yet, as so many are still having the same problems. I think they are getting close though, since quite a few having reported no issues since the last update.

In general we give up too early and quite understandable, we pay for something, we want it to work right out of the box or download. We will always have some growing pains with most things these days, cars, household appliances etc.

You could argue that they released v3 too early, but we have all seen that happen over and over with software and just about everything in our lives these days, does it make it right, certainly not.

I consider myself lucky in that Malwarebytes is fully working right now for me on 2 computers, and I think that is a good thing and that they are getting close to success. Keep in mind though, with every new Windows update, that could introduce a new problem with Malwarebytes. We just have to keep our fingers crossed and hang in there, I think they are close to having a perfect product.

I was not going to reinstall MBAM 3 for awhile but being bored this weekend I decided to putts with it a bit yesterday. Amazingly 3.06.1469 has sorted out the problems this box had with it (including BSODs when Web Protection was enabled). When I first installed it Exploit Protection would not start with the program but selecting Quit Malwarebytes and restarting the program solved that problem. After many restarts and cold boots MBAM has not exhibited the prior problems it had on this machine.

We can expect that Malwarebytes will get 3.0 sorted out since they plan on ending support for 2.x this summer.

Have you tested Anti-Exploit? I still had a problem with web protection - no popup saying it was blocked sometimes. You can test it to see if yours is working properly.

Just Google Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit test and you will find several.

Yes I've tested it with the one supplied by Malwarebytes anyway and the popup notification of an exploit blocked occurs.

Malwarebytes has stated that 3.0.6.1469 is good enough and has turned on auto-update on MB 2.
I unchecked "Check for Program Updates" and will wait for future version.

I had 3.0.5 running on one system and only got the occasional Protect alert.

I updated to 3.06.1469 and then I got the "Profile" error on Login. Never had that error before.

Also found out that when using Macrium and other image products and make an image with Anti-Ransom Protect ON the system would leave a lot of garbage files in the System Volume Information directory. With AR OFF it works fine. They have a fix but have not released it yet.
But then said it was "good enough" for now.

Total BS. This product is buggy.

I am loosing respect for Malwarebytes. I guess they are getting to big to fail.

Will stay on MB 2 and see what happens.

Here is the latest update on the "known" issues with the current release build with a couple workarounds.

    Malwarebytes 3.0 - Known Issues - Malwarebytes 3.0 - Malwarebytes Forums

It does not mention the problem with Windows failing to load the user profile on boot which is the error I had with this new version. I have never seen that error on any systems I have owned in my lifetime until installing the latest version of MB 3. So where does the fault lie????

What still irks me is that they have a potential issue with Bitdefender Total Security 2017, that has been there for a while, (They admit to a problem with Safe Pay, which raises concerns as to "what else"), that seems to be reported without any activity to a fix

Security is paramount to me for my work, and these types of Issues stop me using a product that I have always recommended to others as a part of a layered security model, plus I've paid for multiple copies of software that I cannot use.

With any security system one of the most important factors will always be confidence, and that is something which has gone for me due to the fiasco of the MalwareBytes v3.0 release and product changes.

I am currently running, as stated above, Bitdefender Total Security 2017, which I believe does give me excellent protection, but miss that "Warm Fuzzy Feeling" that a multi layer solution from multiple sources gives.

    Nigel,

If I remember correctly, if you bought a key for MB3 it can be used with MB2 until they fix MB3.
I have Lifetime licenses so doesn't affect me.

I run MB2 with the Anti-Exploit Beta and gives the same protection as MB3 except for Anti-Ransomware which had a long error laden Beta and still causes problems with image programs like Macrium.
