Well thanks for the heads up about Amazon at least I can't see how and blazes anyone could do it unless you were in some social aspect of Amazon and there was some filesharing? I think they have a couple of user groups attached I stay well away from those.

Can never be sure, but friend suspected this was the issue - lax internal controls.

To be fair, it may be a Chase Bank issue.

Well I don't like Amazons account interfaces very much they are way too complicated

I would delete that file containing your credit card data from your PC and transfer it to a USB stick, password protect the file and maybe protect the drive with Bitlocker. I usually disconnect from the internet when editing such sensitive files to be extra secure. I would also print the data and keep it somewhere safe and secure.

Also, you may consider checking your credit report (free) at annualcreditreport.com for unauthorized inquiries/transactions.

As I said, I cancelled the card the day I got the bill...already have a new card. My main question was if the most likely scenario was that the card was hacked while making a purchase on Amazon or someone hacking into my password protected file on my computer which has all my cc numbers (in case I lose one). I NEVER used this card anyplace other than Amazon.com.
